Call for Artists is now CLOSED

CowParade has become a coveted competition for the best and the brightest artists in cities around the world. Famous artists, including Peter Max, Patrick Hughes and David Lynch, have all showcased cows at CowParade—but CowParade is for all artists, from the well established to the as-yet undiscovered.

CowParade North Carolina 2012 invites interested artists of all types—painters, sculptures, craftsmen, architects, and other creative and artistic individuals—to become part of Triangle history and submit a design(s) for consideration in this unique exhibition.

  • Pick your pose—Cows come in three standard shapes (standing, grazing, reclining), but the basic cow form may be altered or transformed into completely other animals, people or objects. Incredibly, over 5,000 cows have been created worldwide, but no two are alike.
  • Large as life—The life-sized fiberglass bovines are about 8’ long and 5’ high and weigh approximately 125 pounds before application by the artist. When installed in their exhibit locations, finished cows will be attached to concrete bases so as not to “walk away.”

The new application deadline was Tuesday, February 15, 2012. Submissions will be reviewed to ensure they have a broad appeal, are appropriate for all ages and meet CowParade guidelines. Upon approval, designs will be offered to sponsors, and sponsor-selected designs will then be rendered by the artist(s). Download the application here.

Benefits

Each artist selected for CowParade NC will receive a $1,000 artist’s stipend and recognition for their work. All exhibit cows will have a permanently affixed plaque commemorating the artist, sponsor and cow name.

Additionally, select cows (approximately eight to 12 from the North Carolina event) will be chosen to be rendered into an officially licensed CowParade figurine, which are among the top collectibles in the world. There are over 500 porcelain figurines, each an exact replica of an authentic cow created for a CowParade event.
